ryan had a big concert last night. with the guys. hours of angry, grunty, BRUTAL music. oh, male bonding.
"this shall be lovely," i think. i do enjoy having the place to myself!
mostly i enjoy sleeping diagonally across the bed for a few hours before he comes home.
(this is a total fabrication on my part. we're not married yet, so clearly we don't share a bed)
...
so! glorious sleep!
not with odin around.
ok, so it's super cute that odin, a whole 10 pounds of white fluff, plays the scary guard dog game when ryan's not around.
ok, so it's cute for approximately 3.7 seconds.
every time i'd start to drift off....
"oh no! i heard a sound somewhere in the building! INTRUDER!"
BARKBARKBARKBARKBARK
"AHA! i heard something! someone is trying to kill my human!!"
BARKBARKBARKBARKBARK
"it appears the bedroom's airflow has changed ever so slightly...this can only mean IMPENDING DOOM!"
BARKBARKBARKBARKBARK
so then i put on my angry voice and yell "ODIN!!!!" (while i mentally prepare to withhold cuddles)
...then i see this face
and how can i possibly be mad?
...and so the vicious cycle resumes until ryan returns.

Did Ryan make it to work today??
You didn't kill Odin for the same reason I didn't kill Brody for eating ALL THREE sandwiches I was making on the countertop, to be my sole sustenance at work today, because I stepped onto the deck for five seconds to tell the pool guys that Tom would call them later. Re-enter kitchen, Brody is scarfing up crumbs and licking his chops. He laid by the stove the whole remaining hour till I left, in case I made more sandwiches. (Couldn't. Out of chicken.) Totally my fault.
But even if not my fault, too cute to kill.
ryan did indeed make it to work today!
he came home a bit past midnight.
so at midnight, i finally got some sleep as well.
cuteness is a damn good survival mechanism. dogs can get away with anything. totally unfair.
